Zoka’s is our favorite neighborhood coffee shop. Nationally ranked baristas serve the best tasting joe in town. Free of corporate marketing, they just have dark wood paneling, locally made pastries, and kexp inspired sound tracks. The audience is diverse: students, families, retirees, and business workers co-mingle in what has got to be the one of the best coffee shop experiences in the world. Of course, with all the energy going into the coffee it takes a while to get your order, the floors can be a bit dusty, and your favorite pastry might not actually have been made that day because the baker decided to try something different. But if you can go with the flow and find the place in Tangletown (an unofficial neighborhood between Green Lake and Wallingford where the streets converge at odd angles), you’ll be sure to get hooked.
