We just passed the one year anniversary of Amelia’s surgery. She’s doing really well, and in celebration Julia sent the staff at the Cleveland Clinic a big care package filled with snacks and a few photos. They work long hours and are often stuck in the ICU for days at a time, so it seemed like a nice gift. Mike Fackelmann called to express the staff’s thanks.
Julia also organized a group of friends to go to a charity auction ball to benefit Children’s Hospital. It was a lot of fun for a good cause. My favorite line of the night was when the auctioneer looked at a bidder for a toy car and said "Right now this other fellow apparently loves his child $50 more than you love yours. You sure you won’t raise your bid?" Funny, and effective.
